Sympathy: The area was saddened with the news of the sudden death of Mr Leo Mc Manus, Tycusker, Arva which occurred at his residence on Saturday 18th June. A native of Eonish, Killeshandra Leo worked for some time in Henderson’s as a Farm Hand before moving to England for a number of years. The lure of home kept calling and Leo he returned and took up employment with Johnston Brothers, Corlisbratten working on their farm for a long number of years before he eventually retired and came to live at the edge of the town. Leo was a well respected member of the community, his pleasant and easy going and endeared himself to everyone with whom he came in contact. He loved Fishing and would spend a lot of his spare time at one of the many lakes in the area. Darts was a sport he loved and would have been regarded as a good Dart Thrower. Leo enjoyed having a couple of drinks with his friends and discussing all the happenings of the time. His remains reposed in Mc Mahon’s Funeral Home before removal to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva for Requiem Mass followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carrigallen. Rev Donald Hannon C.C. celebrated the Mass while Rev Denis Murray officiated at the graveside. Leo was the last of a family of seven and is survived by his nephews, nieces relatives and many friends to all of whom we extend sincere sympathy.
Congratulations are extended to Daniel Madigan, Arva who won a Gold medal in the 14-15 Boys 200m Butterfly Final at the Irish Age Group Division 2 Championships in Limerick at the weekend.
