St Patrick’s Arva GAA Club: Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Clubrooms on Thursday last 2nd June 2016. The Jackpot was €4,500. Numbers drawn – 10 / 19 / 21 / 26 – no winner. €50 winners – Brona Conlon. Cian Sheridan, Hollybank. Kathleen Gumley, Castlepoles. The Jackpot on Tuesday night last 7th June 2016 was €4,550. Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection prior to the draw. We appeal to Club Members and thee wider public to support the Lotto each week as the club are trying to raise funds for their new development and all support is much appreciated
Golf Classic: St. Patrick’s Arva GAA Club is hosting a Golf Classic on Friday, July 15th 2016 in County Cavan Golf Club in order to help raise funds for a major development plan that will create new facilities for the club and the community in the near future. We would greatly appreciate if you could enter a team and/or sponsor a tee box or green on the day. Team Entry: The cost per team is €200. This will include Refreshments on arrival, Goody Bag, 18 Holes Golf and Dinner. There will be lots of Prizes to be won including The Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin etc. Sponsorship Options: Main Sponsors for the day (this includes entry for a team of 4) – €500. Tee Box Sponsor (per tee) – €100. Green Sponsor (per green) – €50. All the names of our sponsors will be acknowledged on the Presentation Notice Boards on the day. Church Services: for the Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group – This Sunday 12th June – Morning Prayer Service in Carrigallen at 10.00 am. Dedication of new windows by Bishop Ferran Glenfield in Columbkille at 3.30 pm – Everyone welcome. Tea will be served afterwards in the Community Centre. No other Service on this Sunday.

First Holy Communion: On Saturday last 4th June Rev Donald Hannon C.C. celebrated the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in the Church of the Sacred Heart with the children of St Mary’s National School, Arva. With St Mary’s National School Band and Choir and the Arva Folk Choir supplying the music it was a beautiful ceremony. On behalf of the community we thank the teachers in our school especially M.s Edel Cadam and M.s Lorraine Smith for all their work on our behalf. We also thank Fr Hannon for his visits to the school and we are delighted that he is back to full Ministry following his recent hospitalisation. There were 13 children making their First Holy Communion – Brían Brady, Chloe Brennan, Eriks Briedis, Jack Dobson, Daire Finnegan, Lana Fox, Mark Anthony Lee, Amy Lynch, Eabha Mc Manus, John Miney, Felim O’ Faoláin, Sophie Pratt, Kacper Szarlejka. All present retired to the school for Tea and refreshments and with the Sun shining brilliantly outside all headed home to enjoy the remainder of the day. Well done to all involved.
Ice-Cream Party: St.Mary’s N.S will hold its annual Ice-Cream Day in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland this Friday 10th June from 1-3pm. It will cost €3-00 per ice-cream. Please call in and support this very worthy cause. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Hospital and Nursing Home Visitation: Priest’s no longer have access to the list of patients in any Hospital or Health Care Facility, so it is impossible for them to know that a Parishioner is in Hospital unless informed by the family. Please inform your local Priest if you would like a family member visited in a hospital or nursing home.
Arva Agricultural Show Society will hold a meeting on this Thursday night 9th June at 9 o’clock in the Resource Centre, Market Square, Arva.
Bingo: The weekly Bingo sessions continue every Sunday night in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva with a great attendance. There is €3,290-00 in prize money to be won every night – the best around. If you’re not in you can’t win. Eyes down 9.00 pm.

Play: Seamus O’Rourke will bring his new play “Danger Money” a comedy and one man play written By John McManus to the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva on Saturday of next week – 18th June in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice, Cavan. Tickets on sale in the Hotel. This is a not to be missed Play which has been receiving rave reviews anywhere it has been staged.
