On Sunday last it was back to the domestic league for Cavan Club’s and Arva had neighbours Lacken as visitors to Michael Cully Park for the Kiernan’s Service Stations Division 1 League. After an enthralling encounter the visitors emerged victorious by the minimum with a pointed free in injury time. Lacken opened the scoring with a pointed free in the 1st minute while Conor Mc Entee replied for Arva with a similar score a minute later. The visitors pointed another free (5th min) before they hit the net after 7 minutes. Richard keith saved the first shot but unfortunately for him they connected with the rebound. The Arva reply was strong and scored the next 3 points – Mc Entee (free – 8 min) , Jonathan Mc Cabe ( 14 min), Kevin Bouchier (free – 16 min). The sides exchanged pointed free’s in the 20th and 22nd minutes (Kevin Bouchier) but Lacken had the last two scores to leave them ahead at the break 1-5 to 0-5. The visitors continued where they left off after the restart with pointed frees in the 2nd / 6th minutes to put them 5 points clear and looking good. But this Arva team don’t lie down and points from Peter Morris (7 min), Kevin Bouchier (free – 8 min), Ciaran Brady (13 min), Bouchier (free – 15 min), Peter Conneely (16 min) with a Lacken point (9 min) left the minimum between the sides. Lacken pointed (17 min) but Thomas Brady replied (18 min) before Arva had a great chance of a goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately for the home side the opportunity was lost but Ciaran Brady hit a fantastic point from way out along the stand to level the scores (1-9 to 0-12). Two points for the visitors ( 22 / 24 mins – free) were answered by Peter Morris ( 25 min) and Conor Mc Entee (27 min – free) to level the scores once more (1-11 to 0-14). A missed free for Arva was responded to by Lacken by shooting the winner in the 31st minute and while Arva did have time for the equaliser it just wasn’t to be. Arva team and scorers – Richard Keith, Cormac Mc Cabe, James Morris, Danny Ellis, Stephen Ellis, Thomas Brady (0-1), Conor Mc Entee (0-3), Fergal Mc Glade, Ciaran Brady (0-1), Peter Morris (0-2), Jonathan Mc Cabe (0-1), Paul Bouchier, Ciaran Cooney, Brian Ellis, Kevin Bouchier ( 0-3).
