On Saturday evening last Arva welcomed Mullahoran to Michael Cully Park for a game in the Kiernan’s Service Station Division 1 League and following a cracking game the home side had 4 points to spare at the finish on a score line Arva 2-12 Mullahoran 2-8. The winners got off to a great start and had 1-4 on the board before the visitors got off the mark in the 10th minute. Conal Sheridan pointed 2 frees (1st / 3rd min) then Brian Ellis hit the net (5 min) while Kevin Bouchier had points (7th / 9th min). Mullahoran pointed 2 frees (10th / 13th min) while Sheridan pointed a free for Arva (12th min). in the 18th minute the visitors rattled the net with a goal but Arva replied with a pointed free 2 minutes later. Following a great movement Kevin Bouchier sent a great pass to Jonathan Mc Cabe who rifled the net with Brian Ellis pointing in the 26th minute. The visitors finished off the half with a goal in the 27th minute – a shot that went in of the bottom of the post to leave the half time score Arva 2-7 Mullahoran 2-2.
Sheridan increased the lead after 2 minutes of the restart but eventually the visitors took control for a 10 minute spell when they scored 5 unanswered points to leave the minimum between them but they then had a player sent off and they lost the momentum and the home side hit 3 points to give them a 4 point lead again – Bouchier 17 min / Sheridan 18 min / and Ellis 29 min. the sides exchanged points in the 33rd and 37th min with Ellis closing the scoring. The supporters got value for money in what was a hard hitting but sporting encounter and the win should give Arva great confidence going forward.
