Arva had Cootehill Celtic as visitors to Michael Cully Park on Sunday last for their last game in the Kiernan’s Service Station Spring League which the home side won by the minimum on a score Arva 0-16 Cootehill 1-12. Arva opened the scoring with Peter Conneely (30 seconds) and Kevin Bouchier (4 min) on target but the visitors hit back with a brace of their own (5th / 6th min). Bouchier was on target with 2 further points (8th / 10th min) while Cootehill replied (14 min) only for the home side to hit another brace from Thomas Brady (17 min) a super long range effort and Jonathan Mc Cabe (18 min) following great work from Stephen Ellis and Peter Morris. Mc Cabe was on target again ( (23 min) while Cootehill replied each side (20th / 26th min) with two great strikes but Mc Cabe had the last say (30th min) to leave the half time score Arva 0-8 Cootehill 0-5.
Bouchier had the first score of the second half in the 1st minute and Mc Cabe added another (4 min) while Paul Bouchier got in on the act a minute later. Cootehill hit a good patch with 4 points in a row between 7th and 12th minutes – one of which was blasted just over the bar and was a let-off for the home side. Bryan Mc Entee took one back for Arva (13 min) but the visitors replied 2 minutes later. Ciaran Cooney hit his first (18 min) following good work by Peter Morris and Shane Hamilton. James Morris saved a certain goal when he cleared off the line and following great team work Mc Cabe pointed for Arva (21 min). The visitors were pushing hard and were rewarded in the (22nd /23rd min) while a rasping shot hit the Arva upright and went wide a minute later. Following a great catch at midfield Bryan Mc Entee found Ciaran Cooney who made no mistake (26 min). Cootehill pointed (28 min) after which Peter Morris hit the last score for the home side following a great run by Hamilton who passed to Oisín Sheridan who in turn found Morris. Cootehill got the goal they were denied a couple of times earlier when they closed the scoring in the 30th minute. While there was nothing at stake the game was played at a great tempo all through as the home side scraped through by the minimum.
